The Think. Fuel. Perform. virtual workshop will empower athletes who want to take their performance to the next level by teaching them how to utilize their inner and outer wisdom to unlock their full athletic potential and reach peak performance in both sports and life.

1. Mindful fueling: What it is, the benefits of mindfulness & how it can be applied to fueling & hydration for athletes.

2. How to Optimally Fuel for Peak Sports Performance: Learn how nutrition impacts athletic potential & the foods & beverages that will optimize sports performance. Athletes will learn how to build peak performance meals using a Peak Performance plate model.

3. Pre- & during exercise fueling & hydration guidelines, tips & strategies for peak energy, focus, skills, endurance, stamina, strength, and speed.

4. Post-exercise fueling & hydration guidelines & strategies for a speedy recovery.

The EXCEL virtual workshop will combine Katie’s Think. Fuel. Perform. workshop material with sports psychologist, Tom Allen’s, knowledge to empower athletes who want to take their performance to the next level by teaching them how to utilize the mind-body connection to unlock their full athletic potential and reach peak performance in both sports and life.

• Upper-level high school athletes

• Collegiate athletes

• Post-college athletes

• Athletes participating in the following sports: soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, basketball, ice hockey, football, volleyball, swimming, tennis, track, x-country, marathon, crew, cycling, mountain biking, triathlon.

Performance Nutrition Objectives

In both workshops, participants will learn:

  1. How to listen to their own internal wisdom and observe their body’s internal cues and responses so that they can decide how best to apply sports nutrition guidelines to their sport, training schedule, food preferences and lifestyle

  2. How to build peak performance meals and snacks

  3. How to fuel and hydrate adequately before and during physical activity and competition

  4. How to refuel and rehydrate after training and competition

  5. How to recognize attunement disruptors that can prevent an athlete from optimally fueling and hydrating as well as refueling and rehydrating

  6. Strategies for optimally fueling and hydrating despite challenges and barriers athletes may face

Sports Psychology Objectives

In the EXCEL workshop, participants will learn:

• How to assess their personal strengths and weakness when it comes to the mental skills needed for elite performance

• How to establish effective goals with strategies for monitoring personal gains

• The ability to identify negative interfering thought patterns and replace these thoughts

• The ability to self-regulate emotional arousal during performance

• The ability to use cueing as a tool for initiating and reinforcing new behaviors

Where: Virtual via Zoom (access to each session recording) 

Included: Hands-on activities during each session + handouts + take home activities to try 

Small group setting – Only 20 spots available.

Athletes have the option of joining a Performance Pod (3 to 4 athletes) for additional support and accountability. Participants will be grouped (as best as possible) with other athletes participating in similar sports. For example, field sports vs. runners or triathletes. Athletes in each Performance Pod will find a time to meet virtually once a week during the duration of the workshop. 

BONUS CLASS: Athletes are given 2 weeks to try the different strategies and skills discussed during the workshop. During this BONUS session Katie (and Tom in the EXCEL workshop) will be available to answer questions and assist athletes in brainstorming solutions to any barriers or challenges they may have faced — over the
2-week period following the workshop — when implementing the fueling strategies and mental skills covered during the workshop. This BONUS session will enable athletes to further fine-tune their performance fueling and hydration plan and athletic mental tool box.
